VISIBLE ANNOUNCES FULL APPLICATION LIFE CYCLE SUPPORT FOR MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO .NET 2003

VISIBLE Application Lifecycle Management Suite enables full application life cycle support, from design through deployment, in building applications with Visual Studio .NET 2003 .

SAN DIEGO, CA - May 24, 2004 -- - Visible Systems Corporation, a member of the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) program, revealed today that it has bundled its tools, Visible Developer and Visible Polaris, to help companies more efficiently design and deploy enterprise applications using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. The combination of the two products, referred to as Visible Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) for .NET now works within the Visual Studio .NET integrated development environment (IDE) to design and deploy business logic and database access code in Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, Visual C# .NET and ASP.NET directly from within the application model. With Visible ALM, companies building new applications or moving existing applications to the Microsoft .NET Framework can save over 60% of the cost of traditional development ad deployment methods. In addition, Visible Systems announced it will fully integrate its application life cycle solutions into the upcoming Visual Studio Team System.

"With this product suite announcement, Visible now has integrated the entire application lifecycle process for its customers who want to continue working within the Microsoft Visual Studio environment and do so from design through deployment" said Mike Cesino, President and COO of Visible Systems. "In this offering, we've added software configuration management, problem tracking and resolution management to our proven Visible Developer product which already generates production code for Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, Visual C# .NET and ASP.NET. While Visible Developer complements and extends the power of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 by automatically generating business logic for the developer, this offering allows a company's non-technical, business-driven personnel to advance their business requirements and participate more effectively in delivering robust IT solutions" added Cesino.

"Microsoft is pleased Visible Systems is integrating its application life cycle solution in Visual Studio .NET 2003 today and also soon in Visual Studio 2005," said Prashant Sridharan, senior product manager in the .NET Developer Product Management Group at Microsoft Corp. "By offering these additional features, Visual Application Lifecycle Management enables our mutual customers to streamline the development process, from design through deployment."

About Visible Application Lifecycle Management

Visible Application Lifecycle Management is an integrated suite combining software component design and development with lifecycle requirements management. Generating a fully functional three-tier applications, the product incorporates the latest Microsoft technologies: ADO.NET, Visual Basic .NET, Visual C# .NET and XML - mapping the physical database design to a single logical business object while utilizing design-time objects to interpret business requirements. User-defined, code patterns translate requirements into the Visual Basic .NET classes, modules, forms, and stored procedures comprising the applications.

This offering is particularly valuable to companies that use model-driven architecture. By combining a single model of the business application with user-defined code patterns, companies are able to modernize applications without the cost and risk of a rewrite. The model-based development results in reusable, technology-neutral business components that are synchronized with the business component design and consistent with the underlying database.

Return on Investment

Quality Improvements: Ensures that defects are discovered early in the application lifecycle when the cost of finding a defect is a fraction of that when found later in the application lifecycle.
Market Time: Keeps the application development process flowing. Authorized users can look up the current state of a defect at any time. Email notifications ensure that the team is kept up to date throughout all changes to defect states.

Improved User Support:
Attachments enable users to easily submit references to reports or records to a request or requirement.
Defect Tracking: Tracks defects and feature requests across customers, users, user groups, and by applications or configurations. Automatic defect assignments based on defect state and content streamline resolution management. Automatic notification of users of assignments, requests, changes, etc. using an automatic email notification system eliminates all non-value added activities from the application development process.

Version Control: Attach issues to files under version control so that you can trace how a problem was solved. Files can be checked in and checked out from within Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. Any provider that supports the Microsoft SCC interface can be used.
Reporting: Supports Crystal Reports or Excel and allows XML import/export for easy exchange of data between XML-enabled applications.

Business Rules Support: Extended interface to expose rules on schema objects (Tables and Fields). Additionally, the .NET Framework code patterns are extended to generate the code stubs for schema rules in a common rules class that is used by all business objects. All generated business objects evaluate these rules as appropriate in addition to any object specific rules.

Database Support: Extended application to multiple levels of child collections and database support to include more advanced features for DB2 and Informix. Additionally, business objects can now be based on tables from multiple database schemas.

User Interface Support: Added a different type of master detail form that is essentially a combination of the list form and a detail page for a single collection that are available on the Business Object Viewer which determine how the UI will be generated.
