Visible Tool Training: Visible Advantage

Purpose - This introductory workshop provides participants with hands-on experience using Visible Advantage, our integrated enterprise information architecture and component modeling tool set. The workshop includes an overview of the concepts and techniques of Enterprise Engineering along with practical exercises that allow participants to use every one of the powerful Visible Advantage tools. Participants will become familiar with strategic planning, data modeling, process modeling, system design, and system implementation capabilities of Visible Advantage.

Preparation - No previous experience using CASE or other application development and modeling tools is required. Full life cycle software engineering skills are mandatory.

Participants - This workshop is open to anyone interested in using Visible Advantage effectively.

Strategic Business Planning:
• Creating and capturing strategic and performance planning elements
• Organizing planning elements for single and multiple-level plans

Data Modeling:
• Building data models
• Linking data model elements with planning elements
• Performing and documenting multi-dimensional CRUD analysis
• Using cluster analysis for application design and process improvement

Process Modeling:
• Modeling business events
• Modeling business data processes
• Generating and modeling data access processes
• Reviewing process hierarchy
• Reviewing data/process matrix

Database Design:
• Forward Engineering -- creating designs from the data model
• Reverse Engineering -- importing designs from existing systems

System Implementation:
• Generating schema's for multiple RDBMS and file managers
• Using interfaces with other tools

Quality Assurance:
• Performing contextual and technical model analysis
• Using automated QA features of Visible Advantage

Project Control and Model Management:
• Managing multiple projects
• Defining users, user groups, and access controls
• Creating and managing model views
• Using sessions for project management
• Creating, comparing and merging models
• Implementing security and version control practices

Project Reporting:
